"THE CHOICE Award Exhibition"

Toward the end of 1993, I got a call from Mr. Izumiya. He wanted me to work on a 4-part poster for the Choice Exhibition. We agreed that all the prize usually go to young hot-shots and it was about time for us grown-ups to show them what we could do. that's how this collaboration, with Izumiya as Art Director, Maki as Copywriter and myself as Designer, took off. Around the time we started this project, people were getting all excited about nude pictures showing pubic hair so the three of us agreed to feature hair. We just couldn't agree on how it should be done, so in the end, it wasn't possible to do one image. This is the result. Anyway, I really appreciate this prize; otherwise we would have had to eat crow, I suppose. - Masayoshi Nakajo.

Masayoshi Nakajo
 Born in Tokyo in 1933. Graduated from the Tokyo University of Fine Arts and Music in 1956. After working in the advertising division of Shiseido Co. and at Deska Co., established the Nakajo Design Office in 1961. Award he has received include : Tokyo Typedirectors Club Members' Gold Prize in 1992, Mainichi Advertising Design Award, Tokyo ADC Members' Grand Prize.

Masaaki Izumiya
 Born in Ishikawa Prefecture in 1945. Graduated from Kanazawa College of Arts in 1967. Jointed Hakuhodo inc. In 1972, and now creative director. Award he has received include : Clio Prize, Paris International Outdoor Advertising Award, Mainichi Advertising Design Award, Nikkei Advertising Award, Yomiuri Advertising Award, Fuji-Sankei Group Advertising Grand Prize, Japan Magazine Advertising Prize, Dentsu Prize, ACC Prize, Tokyo ADC Prize. He is a member of Tokyo ADC and N.Y. ADC.

Jun Maki
 Born in Aichi Prefecture in 1948. Graduated from Keio University in 1971, and joined Hakuhodo Inc. After working as copywriter at the agency for 12 years, established Maki June Pro. In 1983. His clients include Isetan Co., MBG Victor Inc. TDC, Otsuka Pharmaceutical Co. And Kirin Brewery Co. He has received Tokyo ADC Prize, Mainichi Advertising Design Award and other prize.
