UMEZZ PERFECTION! “My Name Is Shingo” (Book Design)

Shin Sobue
Shin Sobue was born in Aichi Prefecture in 1959 and graduated from the Art Department of Aichi Prefectural Asahigaoka High School. He started his career at Kosakusha while studying at the Department of Graphic Design at Tama Art University, subsequently leaving the university. In 1985, after all superior designers left the company, he was automatically promoted to (tentatively) art director. In 1988, he quit the company and turned freelance. In 1990, he noticed that his business did not actually have a name and thus named it “cozfish.” In 1993, he took advantage of the momentum provided by the bubble economy and incorporated cozfish as a private limited company. Then, in November 2005, he held an exhibition “Shin Sobue + cozfish” at the Ginza Graphic Gallery. He soon became hooked on the shapes of typefaces and supervised both “Font Book, Japanese Fonts Version” and “Font Book, Traditional and Fancy Fonts Version” (published by Mainichi Communications). Currently, he is creating his first collection book titled “Shin Sobue + cozfish”, which will introduce all work by cozfish (to be published by Pie Books).

Hidenori Yoshioka
Hidenori Yoshioka was born in Shizuoka Prefecture in 1976 and graduated from Tokyo Communication Arts, a professional training college, in 1997. After working for several design offices, he joined cozfish in 2003. He will be independent by early summer 2011.
